For the past 15 years the Center for Biblical Hebrew has been involved in teaching Hebrew to all who were interested regardless of religious or theological views. During these years we observed a tremendous increased interest in the Hebrew language and the original Hebrew text of the Bible.
Newly formed communities and Bible study groups also showed a keen interest in the Hebrew language. Many were seeking a deeper understanding of the Biblical text that can be attained only by incorporating a knowledge of the original Hebrew.
Historically, our founding fathers knew Hebrew. It was one of the languages competing for the privilege of being the official language spoken in America. I feel that introducing the Hebrew language to America is an idea whose time has come, at least among those who love the Bible and its values.
The Center for Biblical Hebrew is planning to unveil a new, National Hebrew Learning Program (National H.E.L.P).
The Goal of the Program
To create a national network of Hebrew speakers with a keen interest in the Bible and the nation of Israel.
To have interested individuals, groups, and communities reading, writing, and conversing with each other in basic Hebrew, within one year.
What Will the Program be Like?
This program will:
Organize and serve, under one umbrella, the new movement of people who are interested in the text of the Bible in its original Hebrew form.
Provide unified professionally supervised and knowledgeable teaching from a native speaker's perspective.
Help you aquire useful basic Hebrew conversation skills based on Biblical vocabulary.
Teach you Biblical words and phrases that you can use in everyday conversation among your friends and between groups. Learn to greet each other and use Biblical phrases in your newly acquired Hebrew conversation!
Use the synergy of a national group to encourage you, the individual, to "stick with it" and to accomplish your goal together.
Help you learn to read and write the Hebrew letters, use the Hebrew vowel system to read, and introduce you to basic Hebrew grammar.
Enable you to read actual Hebrew text from the Bible.
Give you the tools you need to enhance Bible study and delve into unimaginable depths of understanding.
This program was first announced on GLC-TV's "Light of the Southwest" program November 12, 2009, and we were very encouraged by the flood of positive responses from all around the USA as well as from other countries. We know that there are many people, individuals and groups who would welcome an organized effort to teach the Hebrew language from a Biblical perspective.
You mentioned a new program for a group to learn Hebrew, that I am very interested in. I have learned the Alef-Bet through the book of the same name which I ordered from you a few months ago. Now I am ready to move forward and want to be a part of that group. Please include me in your e-mail list.

I am emailing to express my interest in your proposed one year's study of Hebrew. I viewed your program tonight on GLC and would like to be kept informed of your plans. I have already received the Hebrew Language package, as well as the Days of Majesty and other Music from God cds that are available. The Days of Majesty has been a wonderful blessing to me, so much so that I have ordered and given copies to family and friends.
At this time, I am interested in the study as an individual, but I would like to interest others in joining me.
I already receive your newsletter and look forward to each edition. Thank you for proposing this very helpful way to learn more about the Hebrew language. I hope the response is even greater than you anticipate.

I heard about your plan in the Hebrew for the coming year on GLC. I think it is a great idea there are so many people uniting with the Jews and Jews like me that grew up here but not knowing much of my roots. I like all the Jewish customs and love the language. I have almost all your books except for Psalms prayers and 1 modern Hebrew book. If GLC would not mind sending schedules of the programmers that would help us study with you and Torah instructors. We are three in this house hold whom have a great interest in Hebrew. Let us know what happends. Blessings and peace.

I am a partner with GLC for 4 years now. I love watching and learning from you and so many others on GLC every day. I love learning about Hebrew ...................
I am enjoying the Torah readings and I'm beginning to understand how to keep the Sabbath and I'm really enjoying learning about the festivals of the Lord.
My prayer is to be a part of learning Hebrew through the project you talked about with Al and Tommie last night. My heart lept within me when you said it and I believe I will learn Hebrew somehow someway. Please consider including me in your project.

I watched you on the program "Light of the Southwest" on GLC. Towards the end, you described your idea of teaching Hebrew. I have been studying the Hebrew language about a year but not in any organized fashion. I think your idea is fantastic. Count me as one who will certainly be interested in this type of approach of learning Hebrew. I have the books "The Aleph Bet Book" and "The Wisdom in the Hebrew Alphabet". I also receive your news letter via internet. Please keep me informed as to the development of this study.

I just finished watched you on GLC with Tommie and Al. Your idea of
promoting Hebrew is so good and I certainly do want to learn Hebrew
and have for some time. Seeing you again just reminded me again of
this desire. Someday we hope to travel to Israel and we know how
important Hebrew is for Torah study. We live in New Mexico, and have followed some of your teachings on GLC when we can, so I know that your approach would be super! Look forward to learning Hebrew.
All the best, Nancy T. and Jon C.

I just watched the GLC program which aired on 11-12-09 .......
It was at the end of the show when you began to tell about a program you would like to launch. It was as if you reached into my being & read the thoughts kept deep within my heart of hearts. I have been wanting to learn Hebrew for several years now. I have told several people I know about this desire...but have never taken the time to act upon it. I actually got up off the couch (which is almost unheard of for me) and went to the computer to send you this thought.
You mentioned about some groups around today that might have a teacher that knows a small amount of Hebrew, yet cannot take the student into the deeper elements of learning a language (such as communicating). I have watched several teachers throughout the years on GLC and have learned that the Hebrew language, the alphabet itself, holds many secrets, (hidden treasures so to speak), in learning more about HIM and our Messiah. There is much to learn about in the details.
The details I speak of is liken to your words on the program about the 5 year old that was taught the details of Exodus & Leviticus. About the way the priest was to wear his pants...and because the child had learned the details, he recognized and pointed out to his Father that the priest was wearing his pants wrong. How I long to know our Lord God Almighty in this way...like a child who misses not a detail!
I had been thinking lately and yearning for...the Jewish people to begin to teach us these things in our communities. The Jews teaching the Gentiles about the Hebrew language & the Festivals...showing us & teaching us how to celebrate these Festivals that God taught his chosen people to do throughout all generations.........
I am so excited that God brought this to my attention today. God seems to answer my heart's desires at times in strange and wonderful ways. He shows me, through someone else, exactly what I've been thinking of...or brings someone my way...that is already carrying out what I've been thinking about or hoping for. Please contact me to tell me more about this program you are launching.
God Bless You & Your Family!

I am very interested in the class I just listened to Uri talk about on GLC. I am emailing all the individuals in my Torah group (`40 and I'm sure that the word will spread from there). Our group leader has been trying to help us learn conversational Hebrew ......... but it would be great to have something better. Especially, it be taught by someone who knows the language. I look forward to starting this in the beginning of the year.
Thank you,

Thanks so much for the new program, I do think it is wonderful!
I have been learning Hebrew with you on GLC and have learned more
from your videos than any other program, even the one I purchased
while in Israel. We have a strong group of 20 or so here that are very engaged in learning our Hebrew Roots and Torah, and many of us are making efforts to learn Hebrew. I would like to learn more about your program. I will be coming to Phoenix in a week or so and plan on attending your Monday night study/reading. Thanks again for all you do.

We like what you are planning to do as a national program. I have been studying Hebrew, the grammar, and reading the Bible in Hebrew for some time. My husband and I are interested in this program.
How would this work since we are in Indiana and you are in Arizona? How could we participate in this? We don't know of anyone who speaks Hebrew except our preacher friend.
...
I wanted to express my full support for the study course you are beginning. I have been studying Hebrew on my own for about a year and believe this is an answer to prayer. I am on your email list so I anxiouly await the next phase. I first saw you on "Light of the Southwest" this past week on GLC. My desire is to be able to open the Hebrew Scriptures, read and understand what it says. Not only Biblical but modern Hebrew also.

How exciting to read about your plans to launch Hebrew classes. We have been attempting to learn on our own using the book Aleph Isn't Tough which is a great book. It is difficult to be movtivated without interaction with others. I love the idea of your plans for homework and everything else you have outlined in your program. I can read the Hebrew text from the Tanakh but it is probably on a 5 year old level and my writing is equally childish. But even though I am able to "read" what good is it without knowing the meaning. So, that being said, I hope your classes will begin very basic for those of us at the kindergarten level.
Thank you so much for doing this!

Caught you on GLC's Light of the Southwest program concerning your innovation of reviving the Hebrew language and bringing it to a broader populace by producing/creating a program for those interested in learning more about it and desiring to speak it. I would love to have the opportunity to participate. I look forward to hearing more about it. Blessings to you and yours for all the time, effort, and research you have put in to your programs to provide such valuable and treasured information to us as believers.

I am very interested in your new program. I have been having a hard time following through with my goal to learn the Hebrew Alef-Bet, and don't always catch you on GLC. It is very difficult to do this on my own. My hope is that this new program will provide me with more structure and require more accountability, as well as connect me with others in my area (NM) who share an interest in our Hebraic roots.
God bless your efforts to follow through with this idea.
Sincerely,
Mary B.

I was watching GLC's Light of the Southwest and am responding to request of people who are interested in your new project. I am very interested in learning Hebrew. I am attending a small class we are having at our synagogue.

I just read the newsletter regarding the Hebrew Program. I must confess, I have left off working on my Hebrew study --during the summer and then I've not been able to get back to it. Although I know I must simply schedule in the time and then just do it.
My question about the new program is this. Will you be learning modern Hebrew? The impetus for me to learn Hebrew is for Bible study, so I was mainly interested in Biblical Hebrew, and I understand that they are substantially different, one from another. Can you speak to this question?
Thank you for all the work you are doing--it is an important work, especially considering the days in which we live. I believe it is crucial for myself and those who share my faith to come to know Torah, and to try to know it in the language that God himself created. We have been taught all our lives that Torah is out of date, gone, in the past, (it was even given the name "The Old") ...and so many today are coming to understand that this has been a lie....it is not true! It is an exciting time! You would be surprised at how much I have been able to share from just the small bit of Hebrew I have learned so far......
Shalom, Carole K. MN
